From dusty warehouse racking to a futuristic robotics brand

By the 2020s, Stow had become a leader in warehouse racking, but someone smart saw what was coming: robotics.

The business needed to pivot, and with that came the need for a new brand. At BBH, in partnership with Blackstone, we transformed Stow Racking to Movu with a mission to leave No Warehouse Left Behind.

From robotics systems to the website, we built the brand from the ground up. I served as Design Director on a team that transformed a traditional racking company into a cutting-edge robotics solutions provider—leading everything from brand conception and design strategy to launch and delivery.

By the 2020s, Stow had become a leader in warehouse racking, but someone smart saw what was coming: robotics.

From robotics systems to the website, we built the brand from the ground up. I served as Design Director on a team that transformed a traditional racking company into a cutting-edge robotics solutions provider—leading everything from brand conception and design strategy to launch and delivery.

Modularity in motion

Visual Identity
The world of warehouse robotics is often static and corporate. Our task was to break from category norms by translating the brand’s strategic framework into a distinctive, modular design system rooted in automation and movement.

At its core is the Movuline a graphic element inspired by the ‘M’ in the wordmark and the racking systems of parent company Stow. It mirrors a robot navigating a warehouse grid, expressed across 2D and 3D. This dynamic device brings both functional clarity and ownable visual identity to the brand.

Since the launch of the brand, it has reported an order intake exceeding €300 million and opened a state-of-the-art Experience Centre, further showcasing its innovative solutions and commitment to customer engagement.

We created a master film to tell the Movu story and to introduce the new brand, as well as several product films to showcase each of their autonomous robots. The film acted as the jewel in the crown of how the new brand was announced, featuring a track of classical music that emphasised the dance of the robots in the warehouse, adding emotion to an otherwise cold sector. The contrast was striking, the final output wreaking of quality.

End-to-end design of a new website over a 15-week period, beginning with comprehensive audits and a detailed discovery phase. Collaborated closely with the UI design team to ensure consistent application of brand principles across all digital content.

The Movu brand guidelines were delivered via Standards, an online platform designed for dynamic, digital-first brand management. Unlike traditional PDFs, Standards offers real-time updates and a modular structure, making it easier for teams to access the latest brand rules, assets, and design specifications without versioning issues or confusion.
